Book Release

For the last few months I have been putting the finishing touches on my first book “The Popstars Handbook” I have been cutting and shaving text, proofing, indexing and all that stuff I had no intention of doing ever in my life. It truly has been an interesting experience and finally now you can get all the good stuff featured in the book.

Question – Why I have written this book and do we need any more pop stars?

There is a significant amount of confusion surrounding the actual term “pop star”, as a term it has in fact lost a lot of credibility due to the questionable talent of artists who achieve success and are given the title.

The term I am referring to is not so much based in the genre of music but in the description of a “Popular Music Star”.

The book has been put together because I believe there aren’t enough pop stars. Let me explain.

There are many successful music acts, but very few pop stars, the title is banded around quite loosely, it has been given to people who I believe do not actually deserve it. In the second chapter of the book I have broken down what a pop star is, by looking firstly at the definitions of the words used. When you actually do this you find very few actually deserve the title.

Every pop star’s success is based in their musical ability but there are significant aspects to a pop star that very few realise is necessary for them to reach the true heights of stardom and sustained stardom. Notoriety has become a key tool for many who believe this is the route to stardom, but this is not stardom, it is notoriety which is significantly different. You will be well known but the esteem a pop star is held is in drastically different, it is almost at the level of a deity, whether you agree with it or not, it is a fact.

The thing is pop stars play an important role in peoples lives, they are social, political and cultural leaders and have a far wider reach then any politician or social leader. They are important in the emotional development of young people with many attitudes to sex, romance and relationships being taken directly from the lyrics of a popular song. How many of you have made a mix tape for a significant other?

There is another important reason for the book. With so many artists aiming for pop stardom, I believe it is vital for them to know what a pop star is and, what they need to achieve this hallowed title. Many look on TV and believe they can find the answer there, but there is much that happens that is unseen, so I along with many experienced professionals have volunteered information for all budding stars to use in their journey.

The Popstars Handbook is available on most computers, tablets and smartphones using the Amazon kindle app or buy it @ Barnes and Noble. Paperback will release in March 2012
